Omar Abdullah Meets PM Modi, Discusses Pahalgam Terror Attack and Other Issues

New Delhi: Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday to discuss a range of pressing issues, including the recent terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of security personnel and civilians.

During the high-level meeting, the two leaders held in-depth discussions on the security situation in Kashmir Valley, with a special focus on measures to prevent further militant violence in the wake of last week’s tragic Pahalgam incident.

Sources privy to the meeting said that Chief Minister Abdullah briefed the Prime Minister on the efforts being undertaken by the state administration in coordination with central agencies to maintain law and order and reassure the local population.

“The Chief Minister emphasised the need for enhanced coordination and support for the families of the victims,” an official familiar with the meeting told Ziraat Times. “He also underscored the importance of safeguarding tourism zones like Pahalgam from future threats to preserve public confidence and economic stability.”

Prime Minister Modi reportedly assured the Chief Minister of his government’s commitment to ensuring peace and development in the region. Both leaders expressed determination to ensure that the recent violence does not derail efforts toward normalcy and development.

• The attack in Pahalgam, which occurred last week, drew strong condemnation across the political spectrum and has sparked renewed calls for tighter vigilance and emsuring safety, dignity and security of Kashmiris living in various parts of the country.
