Applications open for UK-India Young Professionals Scheme 2025. Here is how to apply

New Delhi, Feb 11: The UK-India Young Professionals Scheme (YPS) 2025 ballot will open next week, offering Indian nationals a unique opportunity to live, study, travel, and work in the United Kingdom for up to two years.

According to an official statement received by Ziraat Times, under this reciprocal scheme, 3,000 spots are available for Indian applicants aged 18-30. To be considered, interested candidates must enter the ballot on gov.uk between February 18 and February 20, 2025. The selection will be conducted through a random ballot system, and there is no fee to enter.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be aged 18-30 on their planned travel date.

  • Hold a UK bachelor’s degree-level qualification or higher.

  • Have a minimum of £2,530 in savings to support themselves in the UK.

  • Ensure they meet all eligibility criteria before entering the ballot.

Lindy Cameron, British High Commissioner to India, encouraged young Indians from across the country to apply, saying:

“The Young Professionals Scheme is an excellent programme that strengthens ties between the UK and India. I urge young people from Itanagar to Coimbatore, from Leh to Surat, and from Bhubaneshwar to Indore to take advantage of this opportunity.”

Application & Visa Process

  • Selected applicants will receive an email notification within two weeks of the ballot closing.

  • They will have 90 days to apply for the visa via the UK Home Office portal, submit biometrics, and pay applicable fees, including the visa application fee and immigration health surcharge.

  • Participants must return to India after two years in the UK.

Beware of Visa Fraud

Authorities have warned applicants against fraudulent agents promising visas in exchange for money. The UK government advises all applicants to follow official channels and consult published guidance on avoiding immigration fraud.

Since its launch in February 2023, the UK-India Young Professionals Scheme has successfully granted over 2,100 visas to Indian nationals.
