Srinagar, Oct 11: Chief Minister-designate Omar Abdullah has hinted  about potential delay  in the formation of the new Jammu & Kashmir government due to “procedural issues”  tied to the ongoing Centre’s rule in the region. Following his meeting with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Abdullah spoke to media at his residence and said he handed over letters of support from the Congress, CPM, AAP, and independents, formally staking his claim to form the next government.

Omar Abdullah revealed that while he requested an early date for the swearing-in ceremony, the process may be delayed as the documents must first be sent to Rashtrapati Bhawan and then to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

“We have been told it will take 2-3 days,” he said, indicating that the swearing-in ceremony could take place on Wednesday if the formalities are completed before Tuesday.

Abdullah emphasized his desire for the government to start functioning as soon as possible, while also addressing concerns about representation from different regions. “All I want to say is that Jammu will not be ignored in this government,” he affirmed, seeking to reassure people across the state.
