Facilitate our Covid relief interventions: NGOs to J&K Admin

Srinagar: Several leading voluntary organizations in Jammu & Kashmir have asked the government to facilitate their COVID19 emergency response and relief interventions in the light of growing demand for relief and life saving support.

Speaking to media, Manzoor Wangnoo, chairman of Kashmir Welfare Trust, that has been at the forefront of the interventions in providing relief to the affected people during the first wave of the pandemic last year said that it is high time that the voluntary sector works hand in hand with the administration in providing support to the affected communities.

“Looking at the situation in the rest of the country, it is imperative that the voluntary sector chips in. This extraordinary situation cannot be addressed in a collaborative manner”, Mr Wangnoo said.

Pertinently, several voluntary organizations like the SRO-Kashmir, Athrout and others have been doing exemplary work in providing life saving equipment, mainly oxygen, and other relief items to the affected people.

Organizations have appealed the government to provide them with the necessary curfew passes, while adhering to Covid19 SOPs and other protocols.
