Sonpah–Arizal road now under BRO jurisdiction; unauthorised digging prohibited

Srinagar: The Sonpah–Arizal road stretch has now come fully under the jurisdiction of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) following completion of the five-year Defect Liability Period (DLP) under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).

In a notice issued by Beacon Beerwah 52 RCC, GREF, all concerned government departments, telecommunication companies, utility agencies, contractors and local residents have been directed not to dig, excavate or damage any portion of the road, its berms or roadside drains without prior permission from the concerned 52 RCC, BRO Project Beacon.

The BRO warned that any violation of the directions would be viewed seriously and strict action would be taken against violators under applicable rules.

The notice also said that Dett Beerwah Beacon 52 RCC has already taken up side clearance, branch cutting and drain-cleaning works along the road stretch to improve its condition and ensure smooth movement of traffic.

The BRO has urged all concerned to extend cooperation and refrain from carrying out any unauthorised work on the road or its roadside infrastructure.
