Srinagar, October 16: Director Agriculture Kashmir Sartaj Ahmad Shah on Thursday inaugurated a Sale Centre for Agricultural Products at the Directorate of Agriculture in Lal Mandi, Srinagar, to promote agricultural produce and strengthen marketing opportunities through an organised platform.
Joint Director Agriculture (Extension), Joint Director Agriculture (Inputs) and other departmental officers were present at the inauguration.
The centre is intended to facilitate the availability of agricultural products to consumers while providing greater visibility and market opportunities for produce from the agricultural sector.
Speaking on the occasion, Shah stressed the need to strengthen marketing infrastructure and promote agricultural products through dedicated sale outlets. He said such initiatives could improve market access, encourage agricultural entrepreneurship and strengthen linkages between producers and consumers.
He also called for coordinated efforts among departmental officers to ensure the effective functioning of the centre and raise public awareness about the availability and importance of agricultural products.
The department said the initiative was part of its efforts to support farmers and entrepreneurs and create better avenues for marketing and promoting agricultural produce.
The officers present appreciated the initiative and reiterated their commitment to strengthening agricultural marketing and supporting the growth of the sector.
