Budgam: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Budgam of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) organised a one-day capacity development programme on export quality standards and branding of agricultural products in collaboration with the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), Ministry of Commerce.
More than 50 students from Degree College Soibugh and progressive farmers participated in the programme, which focused on global quality requirements, branding practices and opportunities for taking agricultural products to international markets.
Dr Azra Mufti, Business Development Manager, APEDA, along with scientists from KVK Budgam, delivered expert lectures on export quality standards, branding practices and procedures involved in exporting agricultural products.
Professor and Head, KVK Budgam, Dr Bilal Ahmad Lone, and other KVK scientists interacted with the participants and discussed issues related to agricultural production, quality standards and market access.
The programme also provided farmers an opportunity to raise concerns directly with the experts, who offered practical guidance on addressing challenges related to quality and access to markets.
The organisers said the programme was aimed at strengthening the capacity of farmers and students to understand international quality requirements and explore opportunities for branding and exporting agricultural products.
