Six vehicles seized in Tangmarg crackdown on tourist harassment, overcharging

Baramulla, Sep 23: Baramulla Police seized six commercial passenger vehicles, including Sumos and autos, during a special enforcement drive in Tangmarg following complaints of tourist harassment and overcharging.

The enforcement action was carried out within the jurisdiction of Police Station Tangmarg in response to complaints and directions concerning the harassment and overcharging of tourists and visitors by commercial passenger vehicles.

According to a press note issued by Baramulla Police, the six vehicles found involved in violations were seized under relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.

The police said the action was part of its ongoing efforts to ensure fair, safe and hassle-free movement of tourists and visitors, while preventing practices that adversely affect the public and tourism environment.

Baramulla Police stated that harassment, overcharging and exploitation of tourists and visitors would not be tolerated. It added that enforcement against such violations would continue and strict action would be taken against those found violating the law.
