J&K to participate in 2-day national conference on Rabi crops starting Sept 28

NEW DELHI, SEPT 27: Jammu & Kashmir will participate in the two-day National Conference on Agriculture for Rabi Campaign 2026, beginning Monday in New Delhi, with State Agriculture Ministers, senior officials and agricultural stakeholders from across the country set to deliberate on priorities and preparedness for the forthcoming Rabi season.

The conference will be held on September 28–29 at the Bharat Ratna C. Subramaniam Auditorium, NASC Complex, Pusa, New Delhi. It will be inaugurated by Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

The conference will bring together Agriculture Ministers and senior officials from States and the Union Territories, officials of the Central Government, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and other stakeholders.

Focus on Centre–State coordination

The two-day conference will focus on strengthening Centre–State coordination and evolving a coordinated, outcome-oriented strategy to enhance agricultural production, productivity, sustainability and farmers’ incomes.

The deliberations will build upon key learnings and outcomes of recently held Zonal Conferences on Agriculture.

The first day will feature three rounds of parallel thematic discussions covering:

• Atmanirbharta, diversification and production growth;

• Sustainability and climate-resilient agriculture; and

• Digital agriculture, infrastructure, financing and risk management.

Key issues on the agenda include the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses, oilseeds and oil palm, horticulture, cotton, seed availability and reforms in the seed value chain, natural farming, soil health, farm mechanisation, FPO financing and infrastructure, marketing reforms and the PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana.

The discussions will also cover Kisan Credit Card coverage, Digital Agriculture, PM Fasal Bima Yojana, plant protection and agricultural statistics.

States to identify Rabi priorities

The thematic sessions are aimed at identifying implementation challenges, State-specific priorities and actionable strategies for the Rabi season.

The conference will particularly focus on improving convergence among schemes, strengthening delivery mechanisms and ensuring effective outcomes at the field level.

The second day will consider key learnings from the Zonal Conferences and outcomes of the thematic discussions held on the first day.

The agenda will include the Rabi season weather outlook, fertiliser availability and balanced use of fertilisers, the Digital Agriculture Mission, Farmer Registry, Digital Crop Survey and AgriStack.

The Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses, National Mission on Edible Oils, crop and seed status, varietal adoption, PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana and marketing reforms will also be discussed.

Preparation of Agriculture Plans through Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) and Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) will form part of the deliberations.

Roadmap for Rabi Campaign 2026

The conference will provide Agriculture Ministers from the States and Union Territories an opportunity to share their experiences, priorities and suggestions for agricultural development and Rabi season preparedness.

The inputs from the States, along with the outcomes of the thematic discussions, are expected to contribute to a coordinated strategy for the Rabi Campaign 2026.

The concluding session will focus on summarising the deliberations and preparing a roadmap for enhancing production of Rabi crops and supporting farmers, with the broader objective of strengthening food and nutritional security and advancing the vision of ‘Atmanirbharta & Viksit Bharat’.
