IUST Vice-Chancellor Prof. Romshoo elected NASI Fellow

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 16: Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, Vice-Chancellor of the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), has been elected Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), the country’s oldest science academy.

The prestigious Fellowship recognises Prof. Romshoo’s sustained contributions to Earth and Environmental sciences, particularly in the fields of glaciology, hydrology, climate change and remote sensing.

Prof. Romshoo will be formally inducted into the Academy during the 96th annual session of NASI, scheduled to be held at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, in December 2026.

His scientific work has focused significantly on understanding the impacts of climate change on Himalayan glaciers and water resources.

Prof. Romshoo is already an elected Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences. He is also a Fellow of the Indian Society of Remote Sensing and the Indian Society of Geomatics.

He is a recipient of the J. C. Bose Fellowship and several international, national and state-level awards and honours.
