SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 8: A delegation of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), Kashmir Chapter, attended the inaugural ceremony of the first International Film Festival of Jammu & Kashmir (IFFJK) at SKICC Srinagar.
The delegation, led by Chairman A. P. Vicky Shaw, included Executive Member and cinematographer Faisal Simon and Deputy Director Iqbal Fayaz Jan.
The delegation witnessed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurate the four-day festival, marking what PHDCCI described as a significant milestone in the Union Territory’s cinematic journey.
Featuring more than 130 films from over 30 countries, IFFJK brings international filmmakers and storytellers to J&K and seeks to position the Union Territory on the global creative map.
The Chief Minister described the festival as a declaration of J&K’s intent to emerge as a thriving hub for filmmakers and storytellers from across the world.
The PHDCCI delegation welcomed the initiative and highlighted its potential to provide a boost to tourism, generate local employment opportunities and create a global platform for artisans, creative professionals and businesses associated with the sector.
The chamber said the festival could also strengthen the linkage between cinema, tourism and enterprise, creating new avenues for local businesses and talent.
The four-day event is expected to further showcase J&K’s landscapes, culture and creative potential while reinforcing its position as a destination for creativity, tourism and enterprise.
