GCC to organise 2nd M. Shafi Pandit Memorial Lecture on September 19

Srinagar, September 14: The Group of Concerned Citizens, Jammu & Kashmir (GCC) will organise the 2nd Mohammad Shafi Pandit Memorial Lecture on September 19 at the Institution of Engineers (India), Church Lane, Sonwar, Srinagar.

Dr S. Y. Quraishi, IAS (Retd), former Chief Election Commissioner of India, will deliver the memorial lecture on the topic “What Kashmir Taught Me—Democracy, Courage and Belonging”.

The event will be chaired by C. Phunsog, IAS (Retd), former Chief Secretary, Jammu & Kashmir.

B. R. Sharma, IAS (Retd), former Secretary to the Government of India and former Chief Secretary, Jammu & Kashmir, will be the guest of honour.

Khursheed Ahmed Ganai, IAS (Retd), is the Chairman of GCC, Jammu & Kashmir, while former chairman J&K Public Service Commission, Latief U Zaman Deva is the Vice Chairman.

The lecture is scheduled to begin at 2 pm on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

The memorial lecture is being organised in honour of Mohammad Shafi Pandit, with the GCC bringing together former civil servants and public figures for the programme.
