Parking charges to double; staggered office timings announced as part of winter pollution measures
New Delhi, September 28: The Delhi government has announced a series of measures to curb air pollution during the winter months, including 50 per cent work-from-home for government and private offices, staggered working hours and a doubling of parking charges at authorised parking sites.
The measures will come into effect from November 1, 2026, and remain in force until February 28, 2027.
Under the work-from-home arrangement, government and private offices will reduce their on-site workforce by 50 per cent, with half of employees working from home and the remaining 50 per cent working from offices.
The government has also announced staggered working hours during the period. Offices under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will function from 8:30 am to 5 pm, while offices under the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) will operate from 10 am to 6:30 pm.
Existing parking charges at authorised parking sites will be doubled from November 1 to February 28 to discourage the use of private vehicles.
However, the parking charge increase will not apply to parking spaces owned and managed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).
The measures have been announced as part of the Delhi government’s efforts to reduce vehicular emissions and manage air pollution during the winter months.
