Calls for sustainable tourism with local communities and youth at the centre
SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 27: On the occasion of World Tourism Day, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday invited travellers from across the country and the world to visit Jammu & Kashmir and experience its natural beauty, diverse attractions and hospitality.
The Chief Minister said Jammu & Kashmir, with its pristine mountain peaks, serene lakes and lush green valleys, offers a wide range of experiences for visitors.
He highlighted the region’s potential for adventure sports, leisure retreats, pilgrimage circuits, Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE), destination weddings, unexplored treks and film locations.
Omar Abdullah said the Government is committed to further strengthening tourism infrastructure and creating an enabling ecosystem for sustainable growth of the sector.
He said the focus remains on promoting responsible and sustainable eco-tourism while ensuring that local communities and youth remain at the centre of J&K’s tourism and hospitality sector.
The Chief Minister also emphasised the importance of preserving Jammu & Kashmir’s rich cultural traditions and natural heritage while expanding tourism opportunities across the region.
Welcoming visitors, Omar Abdullah called upon people from across the country and the world to discover Jammu & Kashmir, experience its warmth and hospitality, and create cherished memories in the region.
