Chamber submits memorandum on industrial land, power cuts, tariff benefits and road infrastructure; proposes startup exhibition
Srinagar, September 21: The Chamber of Commerce & Industry Kashmir (CCIK) has submitted a memorandum to Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department, Jammu & Kashmir, Vikramjit Singh, highlighting key challenges faced by industrialists, entrepreneurs, MSMEs, hoteliers and the wider business community.
The delegation also proposed a joint startup exhibition to showcase innovation-driven enterprises and emerging entrepreneurs from Jammu & Kashmir, with the Industries & Commerce Department agreeing in principle to organise the event in collaboration with CCIK.
Industrial and business issues raised
Led by CCIK President Tariq Ghani, the delegation discussed several issues affecting industrial operations and business growth in the Union Territory.
The memorandum highlighted the following concerns:

Pending demarcation of allotted industrial land.

Delays in the action plan for newly shortlisted applicants.

Non-implementation of industrial tariff benefits for hotels under the MSME and service sectors.

Poor road infrastructure in industrial estates.

Unscheduled power cuts affecting industrial operations.

Extension of solar subsidy benefits to industrial and commercial establishments.
The delegation emphasised that timely resolution of these issues would help improve investor confidence, support industrial growth, facilitate employment generation and strengthen the business ecosystem in Jammu & Kashmir.
CCIK proposes startup exhibition
During the meeting, CCIK proposed organising an exclusive exhibition featuring startups, innovation-driven enterprises and emerging entrepreneurs from Jammu & Kashmir.
The Chamber stated that the proposed exhibition would provide young entrepreneurs with opportunities to showcase their products, services and business ideas while connecting with investors, industry leaders and government stakeholders.
Commissioner Secretary Vikramjit Singh welcomed the proposal and agreed in principle to organise the startup exhibition in collaboration with CCIK, recognising the importance of promoting entrepreneurship, innovation and startup culture in the Union Territory.
Commissioner Secretary assures action
Singh assured the delegation that the issues raised in the memorandum would be examined and taken up with the concerned authorities for appropriate action.
He also appreciated CCIK’s role in representing the concerns of the business community and contributing to economic development in Jammu & Kashmir.
The delegation expressed gratitude to the Commissioner Secretary for hearing their concerns and reiterated the Chamber’s commitment to working with the government to promote trade, industry, investment and employment generation in the region.
