DC Athar Aamir Khan reviews GIM Perspective Plan 2026–31, directs coordinated and sustainable restoration efforts
BUDGAM, SEPTEMBER 22: The Budgam district administration has identified 53.3 hectares of degraded forest land for restoration under the Green India Mission (GIM) Perspective Plan 2026–2031, covering areas under the Pir Panjal Forest Division, Budgam, and the Special Forest Division, Tangmarg.
Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan, reviewed the implementation of the Green India Mission and deliberated on the proposed perspective plan during a meeting held in the district on Tuesday.
The meeting was attended by DFO Budgam Syed Waseem and senior officers from the Forest, Rural Development, Agriculture, JAKEDA and other concerned departments.
Focus on forest restoration and inter-departmental coordination
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the proposed perspective plan, including the identification and restoration of degraded forest areas under the mission.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for coordinated and outcome-oriented implementation of the GIM. He directed the concerned departments to ensure that all proposed interventions were properly planned, technically sound and aligned with local ecological requirements.
He further called for close coordination among departments, timely completion of preparatory formalities and a focus on effective restoration and long-term sustainability of the identified areas.
Athar Aamir Khan underscored that GIM interventions should contribute to improving forest cover, restoring degraded ecosystems and strengthening environmental sustainability in the district.
Plan to be forwarded to UT Steering Committee
After detailed deliberations, the committee recommended that the Green India Mission Perspective Plan 2026–2031 be forwarded to the UT Steering Committee for further consideration and necessary action.
