SRINAGAR, AUGUST 19: United States Ambassador to India Sergio Gor called on Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in Srinagar on Tuesday during his maiden visit to the Union Territory.
The meeting featured broad-based discussions on strengthening engagement between the United States and Jammu & Kashmir, with particular emphasis on tourism, horticulture and the emerging new economy.
Omar Abdullah expressed confidence that the strong bilateral relationship between India and the United States would translate into positive outcomes for Jammu & Kashmir. He also voiced optimism about expanding and deepening engagement across various sectors, particularly tourism, horticulture and new-economy initiatives.
Ambassador Gor described the meeting as cordial and highlighted the appeal of Jammu & Kashmir’s rich natural heritage among visitors from the United States. He said potential avenues to facilitate increased tourism and promote travel from the US to Jammu & Kashmir would be explored.
The US delegation included Senior Advisor Chester (Brand) Kroeger, Chief of Staff Lisa Browne, First Secretary Gary Applegarth and Political Advisor A. Sukesh.
