SRINAGAR, AUGUST 14: Vice Chairman, J&K Lake Conservation & Management Authority (JKLCMA), Khurshid Ahmad Shah, on Friday conducted a comprehensive field inspection of Gilsar to review the progress of ongoing conservation, restoration and navigational channel cleaning works in the interconnected water bodies.
Shah was accompanied by the Collector, Executive Engineers of Lake Division-I, Lake Division-II and Mechanical Division, Assistant Executive Engineers and other field staff of the Authority.
During the inspection, the Vice Chairman reviewed the progress of dredging and cleaning of navigational channels in Gilsar and Khushalsar. Officials informed him that dredging of two major channels from Saidapora Bridge towards Firdousa Abad and Sazgaripora had been completed, while work on opening and cleaning the remaining interior channels was underway.
Shah also inspected the Watermaster recently deployed in the area and reviewed its utilisation for cleaning, opening and maintaining the navigational channels.
The concerned officers briefed him on the progress achieved, challenges encountered during execution and measures being taken to complete the remaining works within the stipulated timelines.
The Vice Chairman directed the officers and field staff to ensure efficient execution of all ongoing works and their timely completion. He stressed the need for regular field monitoring, optimum utilisation of available machinery and close coordination among field teams to restore navigational connectivity and improve water circulation in Gilsar and Khushalsar.
He further emphasised that conservation and restoration interventions must be undertaken with due care to safeguard the ecological health of the water bodies while improving navigation, water flow and the overall functionality of the interconnected lake system.
