Jammu, August 11: The Jammu & Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case against Mohd Arif Mir, the then Patwari of Patwar Halqa Trigam in Kishtwar, for allegedly demanding ₹5 lakh in illegal gratification from a complainant for issuance of a Fard.
The case, registered as FIR No. 02/2026 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended, has been registered at Police Station ACB Doda.
According to the ACB, the case followed a verification conducted by the ACB DKR Jammu into allegations against Mir, son of Ghulam Abbas Mir and resident of Malipeth near Grid Station, Kishtwar.
The Bureau alleged that Mir, while serving as a public servant, abused his official position by demanding ₹5 lakh from the complainant for issuing a Fard. He allegedly accepted ₹3 lakh through a cheque as illegal gratification, following which the Fard was issued, the ACB said.
During the investigation, the ACB obtained a search warrant from the competent court and conducted a search of the accused Patwari’s residential house at Malipeth, Kishtwar.
The search was carried out in the presence of a Magistrate and independent witnesses, according to the Bureau.
The ACB said that further investigation in the case is underway.
