PHDCCI Kashmir Holds Strategic EC Meeting, Launches Startup Guidebook, Inducts New Members

Srinagar, July 6: The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), Kashmir Chapter, on Friday convened a high-level Executive Committee (EC) meeting at the historic Amarsingh Club in Srinagar, deliberating on key issues related to trade expansion, industrial growth and environmental sustainability in Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting was chaired by PHDCCI Kashmir Chairman A.P. Vicky Shaw and attended by Co-Chairmen Himayu Wani and Javaid Anim, along with members of the Executive Committee.

According to a statement, the meeting focused on critical economic and trade policies, with members undertaking a detailed review of the challenges facing the business ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir and discussing actionable strategies aimed at accelerating industrial development and strengthening the region’s economy.

The Executive Committee deliberated on measures required to address impediments to trade and industry, while also emphasising the need for sustainable development and environmental stewardship alongside economic growth.

A major highlight of the meeting was the formal launch of a comprehensive startup guidebook authored by Er. Syed Perviaz Qaiser. The publication has been designed as a mentorship and guidance resource for aspiring entrepreneurs across the Union Territory and aims to provide practical insights for startup creation, business development and entrepreneurial growth.

The event was attended by Dr. Pervaiz Ahamed Mir, Chief Executive Officer and Director of the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development (CIED), Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora, who participated as a special guest and shared academic and entrepreneurial perspectives during the deliberations.

In another significant development, the PHDCCI inducted several professionals and business leaders into its fold as part of efforts to broaden the chamber’s representation and strengthen industry advocacy in the region.

The newly inducted members include:

  • Syed Shafat Naqashbandi, representing Glitters Forever Housekeeping Services Pvt Ltd;

  • Mubashir Shaw, President of Kashmir Pashmeena Welfare Trust and Director of Kolhai Green Resorts;

  • Basharat Mir, representing Access Future Foundation; and

  • Shahijehan, Director of Hyacinth Agro Products Pvt Ltd.

The induction ceremony was conducted by Chairman A.P. Vicky Shaw.

During the meeting, members also discussed a roadmap for addressing pressing concerns of the business community and reiterated their commitment to promoting trade, industry, entrepreneurship and sustainable economic development in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Executive Committee reaffirmed its resolve to work closely with stakeholders and policymakers to facilitate industrial growth, improve the business environment and advance long-term economic prosperity in the Union Territory.
