CCIK raises civic, trade concerns; 23 businessmen join group

Executive Committee resolves to take up issues of power cuts, water shortage, traffic congestion and Smart City maintenance with authorities

Srinagar, July 2: The Chamber of Commerce & Industry Kashmir (CCIK) on Wednesday held its Executive Committee meeting in Srinagar, where members discussed a range of civic and trade-related issues affecting businesses and welcomed 23 prominent businessmen into the Chamber.

The meeting, held at the Amar Singh Club, was chaired by CCIK President Tarik Ghani and attended by office bearers, Executive Committee members and stakeholders representing various sectors of the trade and business community.

During the deliberations, members voiced concern over a number of issues impacting commercial activity and public convenience. Among the key concerns raised were unscheduled power cuts, acute water scarcity, increasing traffic congestion, inadequate maintenance of Smart City infrastructure and the proliferation of hoardings in Srinagar’s city centre.

The Executive Committee unanimously resolved to take up these issues with the concerned government departments and authorities, seeking their early resolution.

A major highlight of the meeting was the induction of 23 prominent businessmen from Srinagar into the Chamber. CCIK welcomed the new members, expressing confidence that their inclusion would strengthen the organisation’s representative character and enhance its ability to advocate for the interests of the business community.

Addressing the gathering, Tarik Ghani reaffirmed CCIK’s commitment to protecting and promoting the interests of trade and industry in Kashmir. He said the Chamber would continue to engage proactively with the administration to facilitate the timely resolution of issues affecting commerce and economic growth.

The Chamber also appealed to the wider business fraternity across Jammu & Kashmir to join CCIK, stating that a broader and more representative membership would help build a stronger collective platform for addressing the challenges facing traders, entrepreneurs and industries across the region.
