Srinagar, June 12: Young JKAS officer Mohammad Younis Mir, a resident of Natipora in Srinagar, passed away on Friday after a brief illness, officials said.
Mir, a 2019-batch Junior Scale Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) officer, was serving as Assistant Director, Handicrafts and Handloom, in the Industries and Commerce Department at the time of his death. Colleagues and officials described him as a dedicated and sincere officer known for his integrity and commitment to public service.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed deep grief over Mir’s demise. In a condolence message, the Chief Minister conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved family, relatives, friends and colleagues of the deceased officer and prayed for strength for them to bear the loss.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of young JKAS officer Mohammad Younis Mir. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends and colleagues. May they find strength in this difficult time, and may the departed soul rest in eternal peace,” the Chief Minister said.
The Chief Minister also prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and a place for him in the highest ranks in the hereafter.
Family members said the Nimaz-e-Janazah would be offered at 9:30 a.m. at Jinazgah Natipora.
Mir’s untimely death has been widely mourned within administrative circles and among residents of Srinagar, where many remembered him as a humble and promising young officer.
