JKBOSE begins 3-day workshop to implement SQAAF framework in J&K schools

Srinagar, June 17: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE), designated as the State School Standards Authority (SSSA), on Tuesday launched a three-day workshop on “SQAAF in J&K: Implementation and Way Forward”, bringing together 20 education experts, administrators and stakeholders to develop a roadmap for school quality reform across the Union Territory.

The workshop focuses on operationalising the School Quality Assessment and Assurance Framework (SQAAF) in J&K, including creation of institutional mechanisms, capacity-building strategies, monitoring systems and school support structures. A key component of the exercise is the review and analysis of the JKBOSE-developed SQAAF digital portal, designed to enable self-assessment and data-driven quality monitoring for both government and private schools.

Officials said the portal will support data collection, evidence-based evaluation and continuous school improvement, with technical sessions planned to enhance its usability and alignment with SQAAF objectives.

The framework, developed by PARAKH (NCERT), is also being contextualised to reflect the geographical, socio-cultural, linguistic and infrastructural diversity of Jammu & Kashmir, while ensuring alignment with national education quality standards.

Addressing the inaugural session, JKBOSE Secretary Gh Hassan Sheikh highlighted the Board’s expanded role as the State School Standards Authority and reaffirmed its commitment to building a transparent, evidence-based system for assessing and improving school quality across J&K. He said the initiative would strengthen long-term policy planning and technological interventions in the education sector.

Director Academics JKBOSE, Dr Parveen Singh, expressed confidence that the workshop outcomes would help build a sustainable ecosystem of educational excellence, accountability and continuous improvement in school education.

The recommendations emerging from the workshop are expected to form the basis for the phased rollout of SQAAF across schools in Jammu & Kashmir, aimed at ensuring quality education and improved learning environments for all students.
