Ziraat Times News Desk

Srinagar, June 28: A delegation from Beerwah constituency, led by MLA Beerwah Dr. Shafi Ahmed Wani, on Saturday met Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and urged him to ensure that the proposed alignment of National Highway-701A passes through Beerwah’s main market instead of bypassing the town.

During the meeting, the delegation argued that routing the highway through the town centre would be vital for Beerwah’s economic growth, protect the livelihoods of local traders and improve public convenience. It maintained that bypassing the main market could adversely affect commercial activity in the area.

The delegation requested the Chief Minister to take up the matter with the concerned authorities and press for an alignment that passes through the main market of Beerwah.

Besides the proposed highway alignment, the delegation also discussed various developmental issues concerning Beerwah constituency, including the development needs of Beerwah and Magam towns.

According to a statement, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah gave a patient hearing to the issues raised by the delegation and assured them that the genuine concerns of the people would be examined and addressed on priority.

The delegation thanked the Chief Minister for his time and for responding positively to the issues concerning the people of Beerwah constituency.
