13,343 candidates qualify for Civil Services Main Examination 2026

New Delhi, June 16: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Tuesday declared the results of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2026, with 13,343 candidates qualifying for admission to the Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2026.

The candidates were shortlisted on the basis of the Preliminary Examination conducted on May 24, 2026.

According to UPSC, the candidature of all qualified candidates is provisional and subject to fulfillment of the prescribed conditions. The Commission has announced that an online window for submission and updation of essential details will remain open from June 19 to June 28, 2026.

During this period, candidates will be required to submit the prescribed examination fee of Rs 200, except those exempted under the Female, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), Scheduled Caste (SC), and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories. They will also be required to update details related to scribes, assistive devices, large-font question papers and indicate their cadre preferences.

The Commission stressed that all qualified candidates must log in to the UPSC online portal and update or reconfirm their information before submitting the application form. This step is mandatory for generation of the e-Admit Card for the Main Examination. Candidates who fail to complete the process within the stipulated period will not be permitted to appear in subsequent stages of the examination.

UPSC clarified that even candidates who have already uploaded all required documents and have no changes to make must log in, verify their details and complete the final submission process.

The Commission further stated that marks, cut-off marks and answer keys of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2026 will be published on its website only after the entire examination process for both the Civil Services Examination, 2026 and the Indian Forest Service Examination, 2026 is completed and final results are declared.

This year, 13,343 candidates have been shortlisted for the Civil Services (Main) Examination against 1,016 vacancies notified for various services. In comparison, 14,161 candidates had qualified for the Main Examination in 2025 against 1,087 notified vacancies.
