“No one should he spared” – BJP LoP  Sunil Sharma seeks strict action against land grabbing in J&K

Srinagar, May 23: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Sunil Sharma on Friday alleged that several influential people, including former ministers and chief ministers, had encroached upon forest and government land in Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing reporters, Sharma said the ongoing drive against land encroachment should not stop midway and must be taken to its logical conclusion irrespective of the status or influence of those involved.

He alleged that “big crocodiles” who remained ministers and chief ministers in the past had occupied large tracts of government and forest land and constructed buildings on such properties.

“Land grabbers have no religion. Anyone involved in illegal occupation of land should be treated as a lawbreaker irrespective of identity or political affiliation,” Sharma said.

The BJP leader claimed that some political parties and leaders were now reacting strongly because the anti-encroachment drive had started reaching influential sections.

He alleged that certain leaders were trying to create controversy around the issue to prevent action from reaching them.

Referring to former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah, Sharma alleged that a building linked to him had been constructed on forest land. He said details regarding the matter could be accessed through official records and websites.

Sharma said the BJP would continue to support action against encroachers and asserted that no one involved in illegal land occupation should be spared.

He also appealed to the administration to continue the anti-encroachment campaign and ensure that action is taken against all illegal occupiers of forest and government land across Jammu and Kashmir.
