Srinagar, May 22: Director Horticulture Planning and Marketing Jammu & Kashmir, Ghulam Jeelani Zargar, has issued strict directions against alleged unauthorized commissions and illegal deductions at Asia’s largest fruit mandi following complaints from fruit growers.
According to officials, the department has ordered an inquiry into the alleged malpractice and directed traders and commission agents to ensure transparency and fair trade practices in market operations.
The department warned that strict action would be taken against anyone found exploiting growers or violating established norms and regulations.
Fruit growers welcomed the move, describing it as a timely intervention in favour of the farming community and expressing hope that it would help curb unfair deductions and protect growers’ interests at the mandi.
