Dr Naila Majid, a SKUAST-Kashmir Faculty, Gets IAUA Award for her  PhD Research in Fisheries

Srinagar, May 5: Dr Naila Majid, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Fisheries, Rangil, has been conferred the prestigious “IAUA Outstanding PhD Thesis Research Award 2025” in recognition of her contribution to agricultural research.

The award, instituted by the Indian Agricultural Universities Association, carries a citation and a cash prize of ₹50,000. It is considered a highly competitive national honour aimed at recognising original doctoral research that significantly contributes to agricultural development and scientific advancement.

Dr Majid received the award in the Social Sciences category for her work in Fisheries Extension, which she completed during her doctoral studies at the ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Education in Mumbai.

She is currently serving at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir, where she is part of the Faculty of Fisheries at Rangil.

Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-K, Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai, congratulated Dr Majid on the achievement and commended the university’s faculty for consistently bringing recognition to the institution through academic and scientific excellence.

The recognition highlights the growing contribution of young scientists from Jammu and Kashmir to national-level agricultural research and innovation.
