New Delhi, April 15: The Union Government has appointed Syed Haamid Bukhari as the Registrar of Companies (ROC) for the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
Bukhari, an officer of the Indian Corporate Law Service (ICLS), was selected through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination in 2016 and brings several years of administrative experience to the position.
A resident of Jammu & Kashmir, he holds an academic background in management and law, having completed his studies at the Islamic University of Science and Technology.
The Registrar of Companies is responsible for regulating and overseeing corporate entities, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements under the Companies Act, and maintaining records of registered companies in the region.
Officials said the appointment is expected to strengthen corporate governance and regulatory oversight in the Union Territories, particularly at a time when business activity and formalisation are gaining traction.
