Mobile Passport Service Launched In Shopian, Over 50 People Avail Services On Day 1

Srinagar, 23 April: In a move aimed at strengthening citizen-centric governance and improving access to essential services, the district administration today inaugurated a Mobile Passport Seva initiative at the Mini Secretariat, marking a first-of-its-kind facility in the district.

The service was formally launched by Deputy Commissioner Shishir Gupta (IAS) in the presence of Regional Passport Officer, Srinagar, B. S. Rawat, along with senior officials from the district administration at the Mini Secretariat, Shopian.

The initiative brought passport services closer to the public, benefiting more than 50 applicants of the district on day one. A dedicated team from the Regional Passport Office Srinagar was present on the occasion to facilitate smooth operations. The Mobile Passport Van service will be held for two days, during which more than 100 applicants have booked appointments to avail passport related services.

The Mobile Passport Van will operate in the district for two days, with more than 100 applicants already scheduled through prior appointments. Officials indicated that the initiative is expected to significantly reduce travel burden for residents who otherwise need to visit Srinagar for passport services.

During the programme, authorities actively gathered feedback from applicants to assess service quality and identify areas for improvement. Officials assured that such outreach programmes would be conducted regularly based on public demand to ensure sustained accessibility.

Technical coordination and backend support for the camp were provided by , facilitating seamless digital processing. The initiative received a positive response from the public, with applicants appreciating the convenience and efficiency of the service and calling for its more frequent events in the district.
