Srinagar, Mar 10: The Jammu and Kashmir Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) has welcomed the promotion of several Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) employees as Junior Crafts Instructors in the Department of Handicrafts and Handloom Department, Kashmir.

In a statement issued here, EJAC said the promotion orders were issued after the successful conduct of departmental practical tests and described the move as a long-awaited step that has brought relief and satisfaction among employees.

The committee noted that the promotions are expected to help address the shortage of skilled craftsmen within the department and strengthen various craft disciplines.

EJAC President Wajahat Hussain Durrani, General Secretary Sajad Ahmad Parray and Provincial President Kashmir (NMOPS) Suhaib Munshi hailed the development and congratulated the newly promoted Junior Crafts Instructors.

The leaders also expressed gratitude to Director Handicrafts and Handloom Mussarat-ul-Islam for what they described as his “dynamic leadership and employee-friendly approach.”

They further thanked Joint Director Deeba Khalid Peer, Deputy Director Mirza Shahid Ali Beigh and Deputy Director (Administration) Riyaz-ul-Haq for their role in ensuring a smooth, transparent and merit-based promotion process.

According to the EJAC leadership, Mussarat-ul-Islam had earlier taken several employee-friendly initiatives during his previous tenure as Director Handicrafts, including enhancement of stipends for trainees, which helped boost morale within the department.

Meanwhile, the committee urged the administrative department to expedite the nomination of members for convening the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC), which it said has been delayed multiple times.

EJAC expressed hope that the matter would be taken up at the earliest so that deserving employees receive their due promotions without further delay.
