CII J&K Council Meets South Africa’s HC to Explore Trade, Investment Opportunities

Jammu: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Jammu & Kashmir UT Council on Saturday held an interaction with Anil Sooklal to discuss avenues for strengthening economic and business ties between Jammu & Kashmir and South Africa.

The meeting, held in Jammu, focused on exploring opportunities for collaboration across several sectors, including pharmaceuticals, healthcare, information technology services, food processing, agriculture, tourism and renewable energy.

During the interaction, CII J&K UT Council Chairman M. A. Alim briefed the High Commissioner about the evolving economic ecosystem of Jammu and Kashmir in recent years. He also highlighted various products and services from the region that hold potential for collaboration with South African businesses.

Alim emphasised the policy support available for investors in the Union Territory and pointed to the region’s growing focus on innovation, technology partnerships and skill development. He said there was significant scope for knowledge exchange and business cooperation between enterprises in South Africa and Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking at the meeting, Sooklal highlighted the investment opportunities emerging in South Africa and encouraged businesses from Jammu and Kashmir to explore partnerships in key sectors. He appreciated the efforts of CII J&K in promoting international engagement and expressed interest in strengthening bilateral trade and industrial cooperation.

Both sides expressed optimism about expanding economic linkages, facilitating business delegations and encouraging cross-border investments and joint ventures in the future.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Khurshid Dar. Other CII members present at the interaction included Ayush Sawhney, Sandeep Mengi and Atul Vinod Duggal.
