Srinigar: The International Human Rights Organization (IHRO), Jammu and Kashmir Chapter, will mark International Women’s Day on March 8 by honouring 100 women from across the Kashmir Division for their contributions in diverse fields.
According to IHRO officials, the event will be held as part of the global observance of International Women’s Day, with a focus on women’s empowerment, gender equality, human dignity and social justice. The women will be conferred the Hosla Afzai (Encouragement) Awards in recognition of their work and achievements in professional, social and community spheres.
Among the awardees, Madeena Mir, Chief Executive Officer of CNS Infotel Services Pvt. Ltd., will also be felicitated by IHRO for her contributions to the technology and digital connectivity sector in Jammu and Kashmir.
Madeena Mir has over two decades of experience in the telecom and internet services industry and currently heads CNS Infotel Services Pvt. Ltd., an internet service provider operating in the region. Under her leadership, the company has expanded internet connectivity, including in remote and underserved areas, contributing to the strengthening of digital infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir.
IHRO stated that Mir’s work has focused on expanding high-speed internet access and promoting digital literacy, with the aim of reducing the digital divide and supporting social and economic development. Her contributions have previously been recognised with the ASSOCHAM J&K Women’s Achievers Award 2024. CNS Infotel Services has also served as a connectivity partner for several national and international events, including the G20 Idea Summit 2017, Khelo India events, the International Day of Yoga, the UAE Investor Meeting, Book Fairs and the J&K Start-up Conclave.
In addition to her corporate role, Mir serves as Convenor of the Expert Committee for Information Technology and the Forum of Women Entrepreneurs at the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), Kashmir. In this capacity, she has been involved in promoting entrepreneurship, innovation and women-led enterprises in the region.
IHRO J&K Chapter said the initiative reflects its continued commitment to promoting human rights, women’s leadership and gender equality. The organisation reiterated that recognising women achievers is part of its broader effort to encourage inclusive development and an empowered society.
The IHRO Jammu and Kashmir Chapter is headed by office bearers including Bhat Altaf, Rehaana Bhatt, Ahmad Muneer and Farhan Javaid.
