CII J&K Proposes Green City Partnership for Srinagar

Srinagar, Jan 6: A delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Jammu & Kashmir called on  Anshul Garg, Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, to discuss enhancing industry-government collaboration and promoting sustainable development in the region.

The delegation was led by CII J&K Vice Chairman,  Iqram Ali Shafiee, and included prominent industry representatives:  Uffair Ajaz, Partner at Kashmir Motors;  Irfan Ahmed Guju, MD of I A Multiventures Pvt. Ltd.; Saqib Mansoor Laharwal, Owner of Zabarvan Juicee; and Khurshid Dar, Director of CII J&K UT Council.

During the meeting, Mr. Shafiee formally presented a detailed proposal for a strategic partnership with Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL). The proposal seeks to position Srinagar as a leading sustainable hill city by adopting the internationally recognized IGBC Green Hill Habitat Rating System. The initiative will focus on capacity building, feasibility assessments, and implementing green measures aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In addition to discussing the green city initiative, the delegation engaged in constructive dialogue with the Divisional Commissioner on various challenges faced by local industries. The discussions aimed to identify solutions to strengthen the business ecosystem and promote economic growth in the region.

CII reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Jammu & Kashmir’s development and expressed readiness to collaborate closely with Srinagar Smart City Limited and the government to implement the green city initiative, envisioning a more sustainable and prosperous future for Srinagar.
