New Delhi/Ankara: Bhushan Namdeorao Yengade, a globally recognised food technologist, has been honoured by the BeTa Science Association in Türkiye for his contributions to the global food processing industry, particularly in the areas of food supply chains and sustainability.
The recognition highlights Yengade’s expertise in food industry market analysis, industrial strategy and global policy, reinforcing his growing reputation as a “Scientific Diplomat” in international food systems and trade.
Trained at the University of Reading in the United Kingdom, Yengade has built a distinguished career spanning both public service and the private sector. He is widely known for his innovative “scientific pivot”, through which he has applied advanced research methodologies traditionally used in the petrochemical and gas sectors to enhance efficiency, resilience and sustainability in global food supply chains.
Professor Sabri Öz, President of the BeTa Science Association, highlighted Yengade’s impact on cross-sector collaboration. He said that strengthening cooperation between academia, the public sector and industry remains a global challenge, and noted that Binder Technology’s work provides a practical framework for enabling such coordination. Öz added that Yengade’s approach to connecting food supply chains addresses the core challenge of reducing food wastage and advancing towards a zero-waste future.
Yengade’s global leadership has been shaped by his extensive experience in public administration. During his tenure associated with the National Mission on Food Processing in India, he evaluated high-value projects that later informed his international work in food systems and industrial development.
Dr R.T. Patil, former Director of ICAR-CIPHET and currently based in the United States, praised Yengade’s professional journey, describing his transition from a policy-driven bureaucratic role to global scientific leadership as a rare achievement. He noted that Yengade has emerged as a key resource for emerging markets seeking sustainable food processing solutions.
In the context of increasingly complex global trade dynamics, Yengade has also been recognised for blending technical expertise with diplomatic engagement. Through his firm, Binder Technology, he provides strategic insights to businesses navigating regulatory environments and assessing the implications of global developments such as Brexit and the BRICS framework on the food processing sector.
Tevfik Dönmez, Vice President of the BeTa Science Association and a senior industrialist, described Yengade as a flagbearer of scientific diplomacy. He said Yengade’s research and keynote engagements have helped build scientific and industrial linkages between India and Türkiye, enabling cross-border exchange of knowledge and technology.
Apart from his global engagements, Yengade has played a significant role in shaping the food industry across the Asia Pacific region. His work integrating innovative food technologies with market-oriented strategies has contributed to accelerated growth and innovation in the sector.
Professor Shalini Arya of the Institute of Chemical Technology noted that Yengade’s contributions have had a lasting impact on the Asia Pacific food industry, helping drive technological advancement and sectoral development.
