National Energy Conservation Awards 2025

The National Energy Conservation Awards are conferred annually by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency under the Ministry of Power to recognise outstanding efforts by industries, institutions and other establishments in reducing energy consumption and improving efficiency.

For NECA 2025, applications were invited through an open process across categories including industry, transport, buildings, institutions, appliances, energy conservation professionals, innovation, and influencers or content creators. A total of 680 applications were received, covering 28 subsectors under seven broad categories.

This year, a new category has been introduced for social media influencers and digital content creators, acknowledging their growing role in shaping public opinion and spreading awareness on energy conservation.

National Painting Competition on Energy Conservation

The National Painting Competition on Energy Conservation, organised by BEE since 2005, aims to inculcate energy-saving habits among schoolchildren. The competition is conducted at school, State/UT and national levels.

In 2025, more than 80 lakh students from around 1.10 lakh schools across the country participated. The competition was held in two groups—Group A for students of classes 5 to 7, and Group B for classes 8 to 10.

At the State and Union Territory level, winners in each group receive cash prizes ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 50,000, along with appreciation awards. At the national level, first prize winners in each group receive Rs 1 lakh, while second and third prize winners receive Rs 50,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively. National winners are also awarded laptops or tablets and will be given an opportunity to participate in an educational study tour within India.

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency, established in 2002 under the Energy Conservation Act, 2001, works towards reducing the energy intensity of the Indian economy through policy formulation, regulatory measures and promotional initiatives, in coordination with various stakeholders across the country.
