Jammu: The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) has appointed noted industrialist Rakesh Bhat as the Co-Chair of the FICCI Jammu & Kashmir State Council for the 2025–2026 term.
Bhat, a veteran entrepreneur with over three decades of experience in the manufacturing sector, is the Founder and Managing Director of the Shalimar Group of Companies, which includes Shalimar Carpet Industries, Shalimar Floorings Pvt. Ltd., and Shalimar Carpet Manufacturing & Cleaning Co. He is widely credited with playing a key role in modernising the carpet industry in Jammu & Kashmir by introducing advanced production techniques and promoting sustainable industry practices.
In his role as Co-Chair, Bhat is expected to lead FICCI’s initiatives in the region with a focus on policy reforms, manufacturing-led growth, skill development, technology adoption, and strengthening self-reliance across key sectors of the Jammu and Kashmir economy.
Welcoming the appointment, FICCI President Anant Goenka said Bhat’s experience and industry insights would add significant value to the State Council. “As the Founder and Managing Director of the Shalimar Group of Companies, your perspectives, experience and stature would greatly strengthen the voice of the FICCI Jammu & Kashmir State Council,” Goenka said.
