Gulmarg: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today inaugurated Asia’s longest ski drag lift at Kongdori in Gulmarg, marking a major boost to winter sports infrastructure in Kashmir and reinforcing Gulmarg’s position as a premier international skiing destination.
The newly commissioned drag lift at Kongdori is expected to significantly improve access for skiers, reduce congestion during peak winter season, and enhance the overall skiing experience for domestic and international visitors. Officials said the project would also help promote adventure tourism and generate additional employment opportunities in the region.
Later in the day, the Chief Minister also inaugurated a rotating conference hall at Affarwat, another key tourist hub in Gulmarg. The facility is aimed at strengthening tourism-related infrastructure by providing a unique venue for conferences, meetings and events amid the high-altitude landscape.
