SRINAGAR: A delegation from the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry–Kashmir (PHDCCI) on Tuesday met Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg (IAS), to discuss a range of issues impacting the region’s development and business climate.

The delegation was led by PHDCCI Co-Chair Himayu Wani, and included Nasir Shah, Shahid Khan, Er. Owais Raja, and Deputy Director Iqbal Fayaz Jan.

According to PHDCCI, the meeting centred on policy and administrative challenges that businesses and the wider public continue to face. The delegation urged the administration to review the Srinagar Master Plan, rationalise Change of Land Use (CLU) charges, and take stronger measures to ease traffic congestion, which remains a major citywide concern.

Public safety and essential services were also highlighted, with the delegation calling for effective steps to control the stray dog menace and ensure uninterrupted winter power supply, particularly for households and businesses.

The members further sought government support for major upcoming events, including the ATOAI Annual Convention aimed at reviving tourism, and the Kashmir International Trade Expo (KITEX) 2026, expected to boost trade and investment.

They also appealed for streamlining the issuance and validity of Chemical Safety Certificates for schools, and raised concerns over the operation of unregistered associations, urging better regulatory oversight.

The PHDCCI team reiterated its commitment to working closely with the administration for the region’s economic growth and developmental progress.

Divisional Commissioner Garg assured the delegation that the issues raised would be examined and appropriate action taken.
