After Technical Glitch at Delhi Airport, Normal Operations Restored

Ziraat Times News Desk

New Delhi: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has successfully resolved a technical issue in the Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS) at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), New Delhi, which had temporarily affected the processing of flight plan messages since November 6.

Upon detection of the glitch in the IP-based AMSS system, an urgent review meeting was convened by Shri Samir Kumar Sinha, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, along with Shri Vipin Kumar, Chairman, AAI, and Shri M. Suresh, Member (Air Navigation Services), AAI. Senior officials reviewed the situation and issued immediate directions to identify and rectify the root cause of the problem.

To ensure continuity of air traffic operations, manual processing of flight plans was initiated with additional manpower deployed, minimizing any operational disruptions. The Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) was also engaged to assist AAI engineers in troubleshooting the issue.

A dedicated technical team comprising officials from Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) and AAI remains stationed on-site to monitor the stability and performance of the system.

The AAI confirmed that the AMSS has now been restored to normal functionality, with only minor delays expected as backlogged data is processed. Full stabilization of the system is anticipated shortly.

In a statement, AAI expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to airlines and passengers and reaffirmed its commitment to operational safety, reliability, and service excellence across India’s air traffic management network.
