Tehsildar Charar-i-Sharief highlights collective responsibility in addressing corruption menace

Budgam: The District Administration Budgam on Monday inaugurated the Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 at the New Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, marking the beginning of a week-long campaign aimed at promoting integrity and transparency in public life.

The event, organized under the theme “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility,” saw participation from officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Revenue Department, local citizens, and Revenue field staff including Lumberdars and Chowkidars from across the district.

Speaking on the occasion, Tehsildar Charar-i-Sharief, Mr. Fida Mohammad Bhat, who served as the resource person for the Revenue Department, highlighted the importance of collective efforts in building a corruption-free society. He emphasized that vigilance is not just an institutional mechanism but a moral and civic responsibility that must be shared by every citizen.

Mr. Bhat underscored the need for transparency, accountability, and proactive public participation in governance, urging officials to uphold ethical conduct in their day-to-day duties.

The event also included discussions on preventive vigilance measures, the role of citizens in reporting malpractices, and the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen accountability mechanisms at all administrative levels.

Officials from the ACB reiterated their commitment to facilitating transparent governance and encouraged citizens to make use of established grievance redressal platforms to report instances of corruption.

The week-long observance will feature awareness programs, workshops, and outreach activities across the district to engage public servants, students, and local communities in spreading the message of integrity and good governance.
