Srinagar: The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Beacon Project has commenced patching work on the Charipora–Pakherpora–Yusmarg road today, October 10, 2025. The move comes as part of ongoing efforts to ensure better road connectivity and smoother travel in the central Kashmir region ahead of the winter season.
Officials from BRO confirmed that the current work involves surface patching and minor repairs to improve road safety and driving comfort. A complete renewal and macadamization of the route is planned for next year, once the detailed survey for the mega project is finalized.
The Charipora–Pakherpora–Yusmarg road is an important stretch of National Highway 701A (NH-701A), serving as a vital link between the Mughal Road and areas such as Beerwah, Magam, Shopian, Shadimarg, Pakherpora, Yusmarg, and Dodpathri.
Locals and commuters have welcomed the BRO’s initiative, expressing hope that the full macadamization scheduled for next year will greatly enhance connectivity and boost tourism in the Yusmarg and Dodpathri belts.
BRO officials assured that maintenance efforts will continue through the winter months to keep the route operational and safe for traffic until the larger infrastructure upgrade begins.
