KCCI Urges J&K Bank to Expedite Revival Package for Tourism Sector

Srinagar: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Tuesday called on the top management of J&K Bank, pressing for the early announcement of a revival package for the tourism and allied sectors hit hard by the recent Pahalgam attack.

The KCCI delegation, led by President Javid Ahmad Tenga and Senior Vice President Ashiq Hussain Shangloo, met Executive Director Sudhir Gupta, Head IAPM Shabir Ahmad, and Credit Head Rajesh Tikoo at the Bank’s headquarters.

During the meeting, the Chamber highlighted the severe financial stress faced by hoteliers, houseboat owners, transporters, artisans, and traders dependent on tourism. It sought immediate rollout of a comprehensive revival and rehabilitation package, along with a fresh One-Time Settlement (OTS) scheme for stressed borrowers.

J&K Bank assured the delegation that a suitable package was being finalized and would be announced within a week. The KCCI welcomed the positive response and expressed hope that the measures would provide relief to thousands of families reliant on the Valley’s tourism economy.
