Bandipora disburses ₹314 crore credit in Q1 against ₹1,411 Annual Credit Plan

Bandipora: Banks in Bandipora district disbursed loans worth ₹314 crore in the first quarter of the current financial year, achieving 22% of the Annual Credit Plan (ACP) target of ₹1,411.22 crore for 2025-26.

The figures were shared at the District Consultative Committee (DCC) and District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Indu Kanwal Chib and held under the leadership of District Development Council (DDC) Chairman Abdul Gani Bhat.

According to the review, the priority sector recorded disbursals of ₹148 crore (18% of target), while the non-priority sector achieved ₹166.16 crore (29% of target).

DC stresses improved priority sector lending
DC Bandipora directed banks to step up efforts to ensure 100% achievement in the priority sector and called for better credit off-take under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP). She instructed banks to cover all active Kisan Credit Cards (KCCs) with smart card issuance, and to resolve high rejection rates and delays caused by non-adherence to turnaround time (TAT) guidelines.

She also asked banks to intensify participation in the Jansuraksha campaign, complete Re-KYC of all Jan Dhan accounts with Rupay card issuance, and ensure meaningful implementation of Swachhata Hi Sewa activities.

Concerns over financial literacy outreach
Expressing concern over the performance of Financial Literacy and Credit Counselling Centres (FLCCs), the DC directed impactful awareness programmes to deepen financial inclusion. She instructed that no District Level Task Force Committee (DLTFC) should handle more than 50 cases at a time and called for officers to accompany beneficiaries to banks for grievance redressal.

Schemes under review
The meeting also reviewed progress under schemes including PMEGP, PMFME, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, Vishwakarma Scheme, and NRLM. Updates on deposits, advances, digital product adoption, and enrolment of Safayi Karamcharis under social security schemes were presented by the Lead District Manager.

DDC Chairman calls for collective efforts
DDC Chairman Abdul Gani Bhat appreciated the comprehensive review and emphasized the need for collective efforts by banks and government departments to achieve both developmental and financial inclusion goals.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Planning Officer Bandipora, representatives from RBI and NABARD, district officers, and officials of various banks.
