J&K Bank donates buses to Jammu govt colleges under CSR; CM Omar flags off the lot

JAMMU: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah flagged off five buses donated by Jammu and Kashmir Bank to Government Degree Colleges in Jammu Division, under the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.

The symbolic handing over of keys took place in the presence of Higher Education Minister Sakeena Itoo, Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, Additional Chief Secretary of the Higher Education Department Shantmanu (IAS), and J&K Bank’s General Manager and Divisional Head (Jammu) Sunit Kumar. Senior officials from the Higher Education Department and the bank were also present on the occasion.

Appreciating the initiative, the Chief Minister said, “J&K Bank plays a vital role in the UT’s economy, and I’m glad to see it supporting educational infrastructure. Initiatives like these will surely benefit students.”

The donated buses are intended to improve student commute and strengthen educational infrastructure, particularly in rural and underserved areas across Jammu and Kashmir.

J&K Bank’s MD & CEO, Amitava Chatterjee, remarked, “We at J&K Bank firmly believe that access to education is foundational to the region’s growth and development. This initiative aligns well with our commitment to equitable development as it ensures inclusive access to education, which is also a key focus of the J&K Government.”
