JAMMU/SRINAGAR: The Jammu & Kashmir administration will conduct a Civil Defence Mock Drill on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 4:00 PM across the Union Territory as part of efforts to enhance preparedness for emergency situations.
According to a public advisory issued by the Office of the Director, Civil Defence & SDRF, the drill is designed to test and evaluate the region’s emergency response systems and community readiness in the face of disasters or crises.
“As part of the drill, sirens will be activated at various locations in the UT. This is a practice exercise to test our emergency response systems,” the advisory stated.
The Civil Defence authorities have urged the public not to panic when the sirens go off and to treat the drill as a vital safety measure. “We kindly request all members of the public to remain calm and not be alarmed. Your cooperation is essential in making this safety initiative a success,” the statement added.
The exercise is expected to engage multiple response units and will be monitored closely to assess efficiency, coordination, and areas for improvement in emergency response protocols.
Officials emphasized that such drills are crucial to building public awareness and ensuring that systems are in place to respond swiftly during real-life emergencies.
