Sonmarg: In a significant show of unity and commitment to the revival and growth of tourism in Kashmir, the Maharashtra Tour Operators Association (MTOA) and the Travel Fraternity of India, in close collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Jammu & Kashmir, and the J&K Hoteliers Club, held a tourism promotion event at Sonmarg on Thursday.
The gathering witnessed the convergence of key stakeholders from across the country, representing various sectors of the travel and hospitality industry, to forge new alliances and promote Kashmir as a year-round travel destination.
Among the distinguished dignitaries who graced the occasion were Member of Parliament Mian Altaf Ahmed Larvi, MLA Mubarak Gul, renowned hotelier Mushtaq Chaya, Ajay Modi, Prabhu Bhai, Satishbhai Shah, Shailendra Kesari, Pravin Shah, Sanjay Mehta, Sujay Dive, Deepak Singhal, and several other senior tourism professionals and delegates.
Speaking at the event, the dignitaries emphasized the untapped potential of Kashmir’s natural and cultural heritage and reaffirmed their collective commitment to support the region’s tourism recovery post Pahalgam tragedy. They lauded the resilience of the local industry and called for greater public-private collaboration to enhance infrastructure, safety, and service delivery in the tourism sector.
Stakeholders reiterated the importance of strategic marketing, responsible tourism practices, and domestic travel promotions to position Kashmir as a leading destination on India’s tourism map.
“It was a privilege to share the platform with fellow tourism leaders, united in our goal to revive and promote Kashmir’s tourism sector,” said Mushtaq Chaya, Chairman Hoteliers Club.
“Together, we are working towards a common vision—to showcase the unmatched beauty and hospitality of Kashmir to the world”, Tariq Bedaba, General Secretary of the Club said.
The event concluded with a pledge to continue strengthening ties between national tour operators and local tourism players, with follow-up initiatives planned in the coming weeks and months.
