WGAJK announces winter sports competitions in Gulmarg; asks skiiers to be ready 

Srinagar: The Winter Games Association of Jammu & Kashmir (WGAJK) has announced the much-anticipated winter sports competitions for district, UT, and national levels, set to take place at Gulmarg starting in mid-January 2025. The event will depend on favorable snow conditions for the smooth conduct of the competitions.

In a statement to Ziraat Times, athletes participating in alpine skiing and snowboarding events have been  urged to stay prepared and remain on standby for possible last-minute notifications regarding the competitions. These events will feature categories for both male and female athletes, with divisions for seniors, juniors, and various age groups, including C1, C2, J1, and J2.

The competition will serve as a platform to identify top-performing athletes who will be selected for higher-level competitions. As the event draws closer, WGAJK will officially announce the precise dates and share the detailed schedule through various media channels, including print, electronic, and social media platforms.

The General Secretary of WGAJK expressed excitement about the upcoming winter games, emphasizing the importance of these competitions in fostering local talent and promoting winter sports in the region. With the growing popularity of snow sports in Jammu & Kashmir, this event is expected to attract a large number of participants and spectators, adding to the region’s winter tourism appeal.
