Late Shri Ram Sahai Honored with Maharaja Hari Singh Peace and Harmony Award

Jammu: The Maharaja Hari Singh Peace and Harmony Award in the field of business and entrepreneurship was posthumously conferred on Late Shri Ram Sahai, recognizing his contributions to trade, industry, and social progress in Jammu and Kashmir. The award was presented by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in a ceremony organized by Gulistan Channel, where industry leaders and dignitaries acknowledged his enduring impact.

Receiving the award on behalf of his father, Rahul Sahai, Chairman of the Indian Chamber of Commerce Jammu, expressed gratitude for the recognition. “This honor reflects my father’s lifelong dedication to economic development and community welfare. His vision was to build a stronger, more connected Jammu, and I hope to carry that forward,” he said.

Late Ram Sahai was a key figure in Jammu’s industrial and business community, serving multiple terms as President of the Chamber of Commerce & Industry Jammu. His leadership led to the establishment of the Citizens Cooperative Bank Jammu, the J&K Institute of Public Opinion, and the Tax Payers Association J&K, institutions that continue to play a role in public engagement and financial inclusion.

One of his notable contributions was securing the allotment and construction of the Jammu Chamber of Commerce Bhawan at Bahu Plaza, creating a dedicated hub for business activities in the region. He was also instrumental in initiating cross-border trade between Jammu & Kashmir and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK), an effort aimed at fostering economic cooperation and regional stability.
