JKP constable exam results: JKSSB says verification on to ascertain irregularity claims

Srinagar, Jan 25: Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Service Selection Board (JKSSB), Indu Kanwal Chib on Saturday said that the board has taken seriously the allegations of irregularities in recently declared results of the JKP constable examination.

Mr Chib said, “The process of verification is a standard protocol when such allegations surface. It is actually a verification procedure that has been initiated to ascertain the credibility of the claims.”

Responding to a question, if any timeline has been set for the ‘verification’ process, the J&KSSB chairperson said, “I understand the concerns of those who appeared in the examinations. We are taking the matter seriously and will ensure a thorough review.”

She, however, clarified that the process was undertaken after the matter reached them through multiple sources, including social media platforms. “We take allegations seriously, and some of them require verification to determine their authenticity,” the officer said.

Notably, the issue has caused significant anxiety among candidates who have appeared for the examinations, with many urging authorities to expedite the process and ensure transparency.

Aspirants of the JKP Constable Telecommunication and Photography exams have raised concerns alleging irregularities and transparency of the selection process done by the JKSSB.

As per aggrieved aspirants, candidates who appeared for the Telecommunication and Photography exams expressed serious concerns over irregularities in the selection process. They alleged that certain candidates who performed exceptionally well in these exams had previously scored poorly in the JKP (Executive/Armed/SDRF) paper, raising doubts about the transparency of the process.

PDP leader Iltija Mufti also weighed in on the controversy, criticizing the JKSSB on social media handle X, stating that the government that rose to power by making lofty promises has conveniently washed its hands of any accountability.

“Massive discrepancies in the JKP Telecommunications exam wherein toppers fared poorly in the previously held constable exams. The government that rose to power by making lofty promises has conveniently washed its hands of any accountability,” Mufti wrote on X. —(KNO)
